Security Disclosure
Last Updated: July 24, 2026
At 2fa.bd, security is the entire reason our tool exists. Because you may enter sensitive secret keys into this Site, we believe you deserve full transparency about exactly how your data is (and is not) handled. This page explains our security architecture in plain language.
1. 100% Client-Side Code Generation
Every TOTP verification code generated on 2fa.bd is computed entirely inside your own web browser, using JavaScript running on your device. Your secret key never leaves your browser and is never transmitted over the network to our servers or to any third party.
Technically, this means:
- No API call is made to send your secret key anywhere.
- No server-side database stores your key, even temporarily.
- No cookies or browser local storage are used to persist your secret key after you close or refresh the page.
2. What Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, log, or store:
- Secret keys you enter
- The 6-digit codes generated
- Any identifying information linking a device to a specific secret key
3. What Data May Be Collected (Standard Web Analytics)
Like most websites, we may use standard, privacy-respecting analytics tools (such as aggregate page-view statistics) and third-party advertising scripts to keep the Service free. These tools may collect general, non-sensitive technical information such as:
- Browser type and version
- Approximate geographic region (country/city level)
- Pages visited and time spent on the Site
This data is unrelated to, and never combined with, any secret key or TOTP code you enter. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
4. Open, Industry-Standard Algorithm
2fa.bd uses the open RFC 6238 TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) standard — the same algorithm used by Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy. We do not use any proprietary or closed-source cryptographic method. This means the security of your codes rests on a publicly audited, widely trusted standard rather than a custom implementation we control.
5. Transport Security (HTTPS)
All traffic to and from 2fa.bd is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS, protecting the page content itself from interception between your browser and our servers, even though your secret key is never part of that transmitted content.
6. Your Responsibilities as a User
Because code generation happens locally on your device, the security of the process also depends on the security of your own environment. We recommend that you:
- Only enter secret keys on devices and networks you trust.
- Keep your browser and operating system up to date.
- Avoid using the tool on shared or public computers.
- Clear your browser tab after use if on a shared device, since secret keys entered remain temporarily in the page’s memory until the page is closed or refreshed.
7. No Liability for Third-Party Platform Security
2fa.bd generates codes based on the secret key you provide, but has no control over, and no access to, the third-party platform (Google, Binance, GitHub, etc.) where that key originated. Any compromise of your account on a third-party platform is outside our knowledge or control.
8. Reporting a Security Vulnerability
We take security reports seriously. If you believe you have found a security vulnerability in 2fa.bd, please report it responsibly by contacting us at: [insert security contact email]
Please include:
- A clear description of the vulnerability
- Steps to reproduce the issue
- Any relevant screenshots or proof-of-concept (without including real, sensitive secret keys)
We ask that you do not publicly disclose a vulnerability until we have had a reasonable opportunity to investigate and address it.
9. Changes to This Disclosure
We may update this Security Disclosure as our practices evolve. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
